Trip Advisor 5 star review August 14, 2019

Great fun educational experience
We have been visiting Leadville for years but this was our first visit to this Museum. What a treat! Coming from Denver and having visited many museums across the US and Mexico, we had low expectations for this small town museum. However, this was unexpectedly a world class experience! There are 5 floors of interesting and well curated exhibits from mining technology in ancient times to Leadville’s boom in the 1880s to its modern molybdenum mine. There is a recreation of an underground mine that I found a bit spooky and made me grateful that myself or my kids didn’t have to be miners. There are exhibits about mining life and labor movements also, addressing social and environmental impacts of mining. Really a comprehensive experience of mining which can give visitors a drop view into what is involved in extracting resources from the earth. There are lots of pretty rocks on display from different parts of the world along with gold valued over $10,000. We would highly recommend this museum for adults and children as well. A hidden gem in Leadville worth visiting.

America's Best Online ranked us one of the Top 10 Museums in Colorado for 2015.

The Colorado Springs Gazette lists us as one of their favorite museums around Colorado.

Five Stars- This place is gigantic, and on par with the national museums in DC in terms of size, interesting pieces, immersive hallways, and signage. We spent 2 full hours walking the 4 floors and still didn't fully take the time to see/read everything. Totally worth a stop.

Five- star Trip Advisor Review

Who knew how much of our life comes from the ground! 5-star museum especially for this area of the US. To do it justice one needs several hours. Who knew how much of our life comes from the ground! Good for kids with several hands-on displays. Ask about this at the front desk. Good place to spend a half day and to take visitors. March 2019.
