At the National Mining Hall of Fame and Museum, Boy Scouts can meet many requirements for a Mining in Society Merit Badge.
Learn about metals and where they are found. See how they are mined and used. Learn about the dangers of mines, as well as mine safety. Walk through life-sized mine replicas. Find information on mind reclamation, mining sustainability, and NASA efforts to mine in space. And much more!
If you are working on or have earned your badge, your museum admission is free!
Boy Scout troop visits are welcome. Please call at least a week in advance to arrange a group tour. Make plans today to come to our immersive experience of the history of mining and learn all about modern mining industry.
Each year, the National Mining Hall of Fame and Museum recognizes young artists with a Youth Art Contest. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the art contest did not take place in 2020.
